Our client is amongst the first power distribution companies in
the private sector in India. It procures power from a power generating
company and distributes the same to a large industrial user base.
The customer wanted to develop an application that would implement
an energy audit process whereby they could reconcile input energy
with the quantum of energy consumed in down stream distribution.
This would benefit the customer to minimize energy loss and maintain
high revenue collection efficiency. The customer chose Smallworld
technology together with PTI/PSS engines to map the distribution
network & build Power Network Analysis capabilities.
The customer wanted a sophisticated yet simple technology which
would map his network, provide outage management services, design
work orders & provide network analysis services like load flow
analysis, short circuit studies, voltage drop analysis, optimal
location and capacity of shunt/series capacitors, optimal number
and location of voltage regulators, computation of losses in feeders,
Power Loss Analysis etc.
The customer wanted a leading edge technology that was globally
proven, robust and tailor made for Indian conditions.
Infotech provided an integrated solution using Smallworld Core,
Smallworld PTI Interface, PowerOn, Design Manager, PTI Engines,
SIAS. The total solution covered the following -
- Systems Study
- Support in building up the GIS - Spatial database
- Supply of the GE-Smallworld Core, GE-Smallworld Power ON and
PTI software
- Installation and Customization of the above software
- Establishing Integration and Implementation Methodology
- Support for the system integration to build up an integrated
power solution
- Complete assistance in technical rollout and operation of the
system
- Training the client’s staff to ensure successful implementation
and operation of the system, Maintenance and Support
The solution provided the client with: Load Flow Analysis, Short
Circuit Studies, Single line diagrams, Optimal Location and Capacity
of Shunt/Series Capacitors, Optimal Number and Location of Voltage
Regulators, Network Reconfiguration, Voltage Drop Analysis Power
loss analysis, transformer loading analysis, outage management,
job order designing, work order management etc.
